Track and carpark closures in Kuripapango mid-February to mid-July 2026

From mid-February, Pan Pac will be conducting harvesting activities in the areas surrounding the Twin Lakes Carpark and the public walking tracks used to access Kuripapango Hill, Mackintosh Hut and the Tūtaekurī River in the neighbouring Kaweka Forest Park. Our priority is keeping our people and the public safe; therefore, we will need to fully close some areas.

Pan Pac recognises how important access to this area is for the public, and we have developed a harvest plan that allows some tracks to remain open, as well as provide an alternative carpark that is closer to the highway and lakes. We will endeavour to harvest sections of our forest that are closest to the walking tracks first, and any track rehabilitation required will be done as soon as practicable following the harvest. Full details of the areas that are impacted and alternative routes are listed in the table below.
